This word is not clearly defined in the dictionary. Generally it can be found under Agathology which means an inquiry into the
nature of Good. Everyone’s good has a different meaning. The word for the supreme being known in modern times as God
possibly derived from the German word Gott meaning Good. Prior to that time the word for God was Elohim, YHWH, Jehova.
When we seek to understand the meaning of God in our lives then we seek to find Good and how that Good interplays with earth,
nature space and all the organisms contributing to the life on this planet. The Catholic Canon, in describing Good, derives its
information from Greek sources as well as some other early philosophers. Moral Good and ethical Good are categorized and
defined but, we most like that original thought….Good is what all humans desire.
At Hestia’s Hearth we are not asking anyone to change the way that they have been taught to believe. The belief system of each
individual is very much a part of the culture in which the values and truths of the ancestors were ingrained at the deepest level of
consciousness. In our modern global community, we are often products of cross cultural upbringing ;i.e. faith of our ancestors,
culture of our adoptive land. For many, the integration of two ways of being sometimes causes conflict. At other times we are
privileged to partake of a very broad learning base that allows incorporation of a kaleidoscope of ideas into a unique spiritual
path.
We have access to so much information about how the world runs. News is instant! And yet, we still struggle to find meaning in
the miniature world of our thoughts. To gain a better understanding of ourselves and to find peace within, we search constantly
for that spark of divinity that will enlighten and enable a sense of self worth. At Hestia’s Hearth, this is our concept of the nature of
Good. But this search for divine knowledge will prove fruitless while we cannot connect with each other. It is only in a shared
environment that, who we are, flourishes. Our own mysteries are solved during the interplay of communication. By connecting
with each other and looking for the Good that exists, we can move towards The Higher Good, enlightened truths and a divine
spiritual existence that will satisfy our deepest yearnings.
